Common questions
How much does home automation cost in NZ?
Smart lighting in a few key rooms starts around $2,500 installed. Whole-home systems in new builds typically run $30,000 and up. The honest answer: start small, expand later — good systems are modular.
Will it still work if the internet goes down?
Yes. We install systems where switches, schedules and scenes run locally in the house. Internet is only needed for remote access and voice assistants.
Can you automate an existing home, or only new builds?
Both. Existing homes usually start with smart lighting and heating, which need little or no rewiring. New builds let us design everything in from the plans, which is cheaper per feature.
Is it complicated to use?
If it is, we've failed. The wall switches still work like switches. The clever parts happen in the background, and anyone who can use a light switch can live in the house.
Which system do you install?
We design around HDL automation with UniFi networking as the backbone, and integrate Sonos, heating and security. We pick what suits the home rather than pushing one brand.
